Cookies and Continuous Improvement

We can’t have it all.....Low Cost, High Quality, and Fast Times..….To make these winter works for art, hurrying up will hinder my desired results. BUT, I can investigate and apply continuous improvement tools to reduce prep and clean up time. Through ‘research’ and watching LOTS of Instagram videos, I discovered a different type of piping bag – thinner, cheaper, very flexible. It took a few cookies, colors and consistencies to get used to it, but in the end, I was able to avoid using many metal tips to pipe and flood the icing, saving ~30 minutes in clean up. (Translation: My desire to reduce overall time outweighed the learning curve of the new tool. I can now apply my small improvements each time I make these. Hint hint....change management & continuous improvement going on here). That’s only 5% of the total time spent on 132 cookies, the last thing I want to do is clean up, and these bags made clean up easy, gave me a smile, and allowed more time with my family.
